Learning Outcomes


  • BFA Art Education students apply art history content  and context to the design of Pre-K- 12 curricula materials.
  • BFA Art Education majors develop a collection of proficiencies unique to their interests and aspirations.
  • BFA Art Education students use practica to explore the areas of research, and curriculum development.
  • BFA Art Education students practice teaching in elementary & secondary schools.

Writing (9 hours)


Foreign Language (0-9 Hours)


Demonstration of proficiency in one foreign language equivalent to the minimal passing grade on the exit examination in the 122 course is required for all baccalaureate degrees.

It is strongly recommended that students continuing the study of a foreign language begin college-level study of that language in their first semester and continue in that language until their particular foreign language requirement is completed.

Mathematics/Analytical Reasoning (6 Hours)


Select one option from the following:

Option One


  •  MATH 122  or MATH 141 
  • Select one additional course from Mathematics (MATH) at a higher level, Philosophy (PHIL) 110 , 111 , Statistics (STAT), or Computer Science (CSCE)

Option Two


  •  PHIL 110  and PHIL 111 
  • Two courses in Statistics (STAT)
  • Two courses in Computer Science (CSCE)

 

Natural Science (8 Hours)


Select 2 laboratory courses from the following:

Liberal Arts (12 Hours)


  • HIST 111  or 112 United States History since 1865  *
  • ANTH 356 - Anthropology of Art
  • Two additional courses from the following fields: anthropology, geography, history, political science, psychology, sociology, philosophy, women’s and gender studies, theater, religious studies, film and media studies, dance and music. A maximum of 6 hours may be earned in any one field.
